Photos show the mysteriously large sinkhole that was discovered in Chile.

What would you do if you discovered an enormous, mysterious hole on the ground? Would you be taken aback? Officials and researchers from Chile are.

According to npr.com, a sinkhole measuring 656 feet (199 m) from top to bottom was discovered close to the mining community of Tierra Amarilla in Chile. Even the Washington Monument can fit inside if there are roughly 100 feet (30 m) of extra space. Authorities and investigators in Chile are still attempting to determine what led to it. The National and Mining Service, commonly known as Sernagomin, estimated that the diameter could be roughly 82 feet (24 m) broad after it was discovered on Saturday. However, the organization announced on Tuesday that the sinkhole’s diameter is almost 105 feet (32 m).
According to agency director David Montenegro in a statement to Reuters, “We haven’t found any substance down there, but we have seen the presence of a lot of water.”sinkhole

The area where the sinkhole appeared is owned by a Canadian business called Lundin Mining Corporation. The company said a sinkhole was discovered on July 30, 2022, close to their mining location known as Minera Ojos del Salado, and claimed it had been stable since its discovery. The area was sealed up once the sinkhole was found. The business continued, “The next residence is more than 600 meters (1,969 feet) away, and any populated area or public service is approximately a kilometer away from the affected zone.
Conspiracy theories must exist.
Although the study in the area is still ongoing, the news, particularly on social media, had a significant impact, which made conspiracy theories about the hole unavoidable. Some people on social media claimed it was created by aliens. Even Canadian choreographer and actor Cory Bowles tweeted about the issue. China had previously discovered another sinkhole.

A large ancient forest has reportedly been discovered in China’s Guanxi Region, according to Xinhua News. According to senior engineer Zhang Yuanhai of China’s Academy of Geological Sciences’ Institute of Karst Geology, the sinkhole measured more than 1000 feet (304,8 m) long and about 630 feet (192 m) deep.
The sinkhole, according to Zhang, may contain the remains of early evolution and is one of the most significant places of primitive life that has been best preserved.

We’ll check if the recently discovered sinkhole resembles the one in China.
